Arsenal Set to Break Transfer Record in 48 Hours

    Cazorla to Arsenal
Wenger to deliver Santi as Arsenal bag £15m Spanish midfielder

Arsene Wenger expects to complete the club record £15million transfer of Santi Cazorla by Tuesday.
Though Malaga are holding out for £20m, Arsenal hope a debt deadline imposed on the financially-stricken Spanish club will seal the deal.

With Robin van Persie poised to leave, the capture of Carzola, 27, is the major signing of the summer that Wenger has been promising.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is not known for extravagant spending, especially on established stars, but he’s going all out this summer to improve a squad that has failed to deliver for a number of seasons.

Though the £15m stated by this source isn’t actually a record fee paid by the Gunners, it is likely that Malaga will demand a fee nearer the £20m they are after for winger Santi Cazorla.

The 27 year old can play in an advanced central midfield role but is more commonly used out wide, an area that Wenger may be looking to strengthen, especially as there are question marks over the future of both Theo Walcott and Andrei Arshavin, the former still to sign a new contract and being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium and the latter seemingly no longer part of the Gunners boss’s plans as he is not present at the club’s Asian tour.

Cazorla is a very able and experienced performer, with 48 national team caps and winner of two European Championship titles with the Spanish national team.

The Spaniard would represent the third big name signing of the summer with Wenger already having secured Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud during the current transfer window.

Tottenham Agreed £36m Transfer Fee of Modric to Real Madrid

    Modric
TOTTENHAM last night agreed a £36million fee with Real Madrid for Luka Modric.
The Croatia midfielder had already said he would join Jose Mourinho’s side but was waiting for the clubs to reach a deal.

He almost ruined his chances of a move by refusing to go on Spurs’ pre-season tour.

But Real officials persuaded him to apologise and return.

Madrid were reluctant to meet Spurs’ valuation but Mourinho wanted Modric as soon as possible.

The deal will bring an end to a saga which began when the 26-year-old demanded a move to Chelsea a year ago.

Man City Won't Make van Persie Most Highest Paid Club's Player

    Robin van Persie
Manchester City transfer chief Brian Marwood is set to jeopardise the club’s bid to sign Robin van Persie by refusing to make him their highest-paid player.

And that will delight rivals United, who believe they can win the race for Van Persie if City do not blow the bank.

Marwood is already at odds with City boss Roberto Mancini over Van Persie, with the Italian desperate to land the Dutchman.

City had a £15m bid for Van Persie rejected and Mancini has been told he must sell some of his flops to clear the way for a new offer closer to Arsenal’s £20m asking price.

Arsene Wenger returns from Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Asia tomorrow and will hold another round of talks with Van Persie.

But even if Van Persie cannot be convinced to change his mind and City do agree a fee with the Gunners, Mancini can no longer count on the club offering the player vast sums of money to snub United and Juventus.

Mancini had assumed City would offer Van Persie a salary close to the £225,000-a-week that highest-paid player Yaya Toure earns, but Marwood is set to dash that hope.

City already have big problems trying to sell Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz due to their huge wage packets.

And Marwood believes it would be a significant and unnecessary risk to pay Van Persie, who turns 29 next month and has a poor injury record, any more than £150,000 a week.

Van Persie is already understood to favour a move to United or Juve and Marwood’s wage cap will only make it more difficult for City to convince the Dutchman to change his mind.

Arsenal were ready to offer Van Persie £130,000-a-week and a £5m signing-on fee before he said he would not sign a new contract.

United pay Wayne Rooney £200,000 a week and could match City’s reduced salary offer.

Man City Target Gaston Ramirez for New EPL Season

    Gaston Ramirez
Manchester City is still missing a high potential winger where they have to fulfill this summer. While Adam Johnson shows signs that he could be that man, he hasn't been consistent on the pitch.

Goal.com's Dale Jones is suggesting that Manchester City are leading the race to sign Bologna's Uruguayan winger, Gaston Ramirez.

    His agent has stated:

I think it's always been more likely that Gaston says goodbye to Italy. So much so that now I'm in London to talk with a Premier League club. I think Ramirez will leave. He is one of the best players and so there are many offers and, again, I think it's unlikely he will remain in Italy.

Ramirez is one of the world's best young talents; his efforts with the Sire A middle-card side, Bologna, did not go unnoticed. Ramirez tallied eight goals to help the small Italian side finish ninth on the table last season.

It appears as though the 21-year-old Ramirez is quickly outgrowing Bologna, where he has been since 2010.

While Gaston Ramirez is highly talented and would fill a need for City, there are several other teams inquiring about his availability, including Liverpool, Wolfsburg and InterMIlan.

The £25 million price tag, which is believed to be Bologna's asking price, could push teams away from completing this deal.

City Prepares £24m for De Rossi

    De Rossi
ROBERTO MANCINI’S rant at the Manchester City board looks set to land him his dream player, Daniele De Rossi.

Mancini had been desperate to sign the Roma playmaker last summer and in the January transfer window.

But the money men at City refused to sanction the deal and De Rossi signed a new contract with the Serie A side in February, which ties him to the club until 2017.

Frustrated at a lack of signings this summer, Mancini has been pestering football director Brian Marwood to back his move for the 29-year-old. Mancini now seems to have got his way with City ready to pay just under £24m for Di Rossi.

So Roberto Mancini, as strange as it might sound given the size and quality of his Etihad Stadium squad, is unhappy at the lack of new signings made this summer and now the Premier League title holders are set to do something about that by signing Italian midfielder Daniele De Rossi.

The impressive box to box performer is tough in the tackle, a great distributor and a player with an eye for goal, one thing though, where exactly will the Roma man fit into the Man City starting eleven?

Last term Nigel De Jong was frozen out of first team affairs after Mancini opted to field a more attack minded line-up, believing, rightly, that playing the Dutch enforcer AND Gareth Barry was a bit to sterile a combination. But where will De Rossi fit in?

Presumably Barry and midfielder Yaya Toure are regulars that Mancini will not force out, so how can De Rossi be included into a line up that also tends to use David Silva in a floating advanced role.

29 year old De Rossi is a one club man who has been a regular at the Stadio Olimpico for eight seasons, racking up a total of 389 appearances for his hometown side, how will he take to having to fight for a first team slot?

United Make a Last Bid for Lucas Moura

    Moura
Lucas Moura continues to frustrate Manchester United’s transfer bidManchester United are set to make a final take it or leave it offer for Sao Paulo wonderkid Lucas Moura.

The Red Devils have been locked in negotiations for 19-year-old Lucas for the last two weeks, but are now ready for a final round of make or break talks in a bid to resolve the deadlocked situation.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is desperate to land the all action midfielder – rated as one of the biggest talents in South America – but is refusing to match Sao Paulo’s £30 million price tag.

United are due to speak to Sao Paulo again over the weekend, before lodging their final offer, expected to be £27 million plus substantial add ons.

Out-of-favour midfielder Anderson could also go the other way on loan as part of the deal, but Sao Paulo are yet to express an interest.

Regardless of the obvious quality Lucas Moura possesses there is always an element of risk associated with the ability of a young South American to make it in Europe and therefore this offer from Man United for the Sao Paulo man seems a more than acceptable one.

The teenager is currently in England with the Brazilian Olympic football team and that does in some way leave a time frame for which to see a deal through. Clearly if nothing to signed and sealed by the time the Olympics are done and dusted, business can still be conducted but clearly that availability of the player and his representatives offers more chance of a move being secured over the next couple of weeks.

Sao Paulo do appear do be leaving a door open for such a deal as clearly they haven’t stated that Lucas Moura was not for sale and are seemingly looking to get as much as they can for the talented young attacking midfielder.

Though Ferguson has brought in Shinji Kagawa the Man United boss will still be thinking he could do with adding more of a creative attacking midfield element to a side that currently has a number of more rigid players, players like Michael Carrick, Anderson and Paul Scholes, who all offer something but not all that much going forward, certainly not with regards to goals and assists.

Sir Alex Ferguson is not the type of man who will take no as a response too many times before he gives up and moves on so perhaps this final bid will do the trick.

Arsenal Increase the Bid for Cazorla

    Santi Cazorla
According to Spanish source AS Arsenal have tabled a €23m (£17.9m) bid for Malaga attacker Santi Cazorla, a price that the La Liga side are apparently willing to consider for the 27 year old Spanish international.
The talented former Villarreal man had a good first season at La Rosaleda, helping Malaga to cement a maiden Champions League berth, but the winger is apparently now likely to leave the La Liga side and Arsenal are very much interested in the stylish wide-man.

Arsene Wenger perhaps feels the need to add more creativity to his flanks and could well be ready to offload Andrei Arshavin or listen to offers for Theo Walcott, a player who is still to put pen to paper on a new deal, having just 12 months to run on his current contract.

Cazorla is a regular in the Spanish national team set-up, racking up 45 caps and being the holder of two European Championship winners’ medals.

Last term proved to be the Asturias born man’s most effective with Santi Cazorla scoring nine goals and laying on a fair number of assists to boot.

A £17.9m offer would break the North London club’s transfer record and Arsenal fans may be dubious that the Gunners would spend such a fee having already invested £23m or so on Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, but perhaps Arsenal are ready to up their usual level of spending in order help bring an end to a long silverware drought.

    Tottenham Target Giuseppe Rossi

    Giuseppe Rossi
Tottenham Hotspur have been alerted by the news that Guiseppe Rossi could leave Villareal this summer, reports talkSPORT.

The north London outfit saw a £20 million bid for Rossi rejected last summer as then-boss Harry Redknapp looked to bolster the club’s strikeforce.

Rossi endured a miserable season at Villareal, suffering a major cruciate ligament injury and witnessing the Yellow Submarine slip to a shock relegation in his absence.

The 25-year-old is expected to remain sidelines until next year but his agent Federico Pastorello does not believe this will put club’s off pursuing his signature.

“We are looking around to find the best solution that will be shared with Villarreal,” Pastorello told Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Giuseppe will return [from injury] in February, and it is normal that the market can be accelerated in the last fortnight of August.

“Cost? Less than ten million, but I guess there will be a contract where there will be a fixed base and a very big portion in add-ons.”

Spurs are certainly in the market for a striker this summer, with Jermain Defoe currently the only senior forward on their books and the club struggling to finalise a deal for Togolese hit-man Emmanuel Adebayor.

If the north Londoners are interested in Rossi, they are likely to have to content with Italian giants Napoil, however.

“Napoli? I do not exclude the transfer of Rossi to the club of [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis,” Pastorello added.

“I cannot exclude this possibility. But now he’s a football player for Villarreal, that’s for sure. The market is open.”

Arsenal - No Sahin Deal Done

    Nuri Sahin
Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that Arsenal have agreed a deal to bring in Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on loan and insists he is not close to a new signing.

Sahin has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League after starting just two league games for Real Madrid last season following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

He was mooted as a makeweight in Real's bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric, but Sahin last month stated his intention to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Real coach Jose Mourinho confirmed earlier on Friday that it may be in the 23-year-old's interests to take in a loan spell in order to play regularly.

"I want to be honest and Sahin is living in this grey zone because the market is open," Mourinho toldMarca.

"If the possibility arises for him to go to another place it would be better for him to leave and to be able to have more minutes on the pitch."

United and Arsenal Target Celtic Star £7m

    Victor Wanyama
Manchester United and Arsenal have joined QPR and Stoke in the pursuit of Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Scouts from each club watched the Kenyan, 21, in Celtic’s 1-0 defeat by Norwich on Tuesday.

He has voiced his frustration at being played in defence and rather than defensive midfield. He is keen to move to England.
    Celtic want around £7m.

It appears that Victor Wanyama’s agent has been working overtime of late, with the Kenyan apparently being tracked by a host of sides this summer. Whilst it’s true the young enforcer had a solid first season in the SPL it does seem a little unlikely that sides of Man United & Arsenal’s calibre would be taking an active interest in the Celtic man.

The former Beerschot man has taken well to life in the Scottish top tier but a move to the Premier League is quite a leap and perhaps with only one term North of the Border it’s a little too early to gamble on such a purchase, hence the interest from Stoke City and QPR being eminently more likely.

Arsenal are apparently looking to add steel to their creative midfield set-up, hence the constant speculation about apparent interest in French international Yann M’Vila. Indeed Man United are certainly short of dedicated defensive midfielders and have arguably not employed an out and out player of this type since Owen Hargreaves saw hit career ravaged by injury.

    Moura
Lucas to wait until after Games, with United keen on wonderkid.

Manchester United target Lucas Moura has instead that he is focussed on Sao Paulo and Brazil, and will decide his future after the London Olympics.

The 19-year-old is currently participating in the Games with the Brazilian squad and the will-he-won’t-he transfer saga of the summer now looks certain to continue for at least another two weeks.

United reportedly saw a £26.5 million bid for Lucas rejected last week, with reports suggesting that the Old Trafford outfit were not prepared to increase their offer.

But Lucas’ agent Wagner Ribeiro said on Thursday that he had been instructed by the young winger to keep negotiating with the Premier League giants.

The 19-year-old has now revealed that he i solely focussed on the Games.

“I am focusing on my team, Sao Paulo and in Brazil’s national team at the moment. I’ll decide my future after the Olympics,” he said, according to Goal.com.

“It’s already a victory to be here. Now I have to be ready for any situation if Mano Menezes believes I have to play,” he added.

    Jovetic
Stefan Jovetic wants to join Juventus, rather than a Premier League club.

Arsenal and Chelsea target will submit a formal transfer request at Fiorentina this week – but wants to move to Juventus rather than the Premier League, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Montenegro international is one of the hottest properties in the Serie A and has been linked with a big money move away from Florence all summer.

The 22-year-old will reportedly meet with Fiorentina president Andrea delle Valle on Wednesday and demand a move, with Serie A Champions Juve thought to be his preferred destination.

Juventus’ first offer of £10 million plus Alessandro Matri and Michele Pazienza was rejected by Fiorentina, who are holding out for a fee of £25 million.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also been tracking Jovetic, who primarily plays as a second striker, for some time.

Chelsea’s interested cooled when they landed £32 million man Eden Hazard but Arsenal are in the market for replacements for outbound Robin van Persie and Andrei Arshavin and will be disappointed by Jovetic’s desire to stay in Italy.

The former Partizan Belgrade youngster has scored 22 times in 84 league appearances for Vincenzo Montella’s side.

    Cazorla
Arsenal have agreed terms with Malaga playmaker Santi Cazorla, reports the Daily Mail.

The versatile Spaniard looks set to arrive in north London in the next few weeks but the Gunners are still to agree a fee with the La Liga outfit.

Cazorla is desperate to leave Malaga this summer, after a bitter row with the club over unpaid wages.

The Euro 2012 winner only joined the Qatari-owned club last summer in an £18 million deal from Villareal – who were subsequently relegated – and is one of several senior players eyeing an exit from La Rosaleda.

Malaga reportedly still owe Villareal £3 million of Cazorla’s initial transfer fee and have a lengthy unpaid tax bill, despite being backed by a mega-bucks middle-eastern consortium.

Tottenham were also interested in the 27-year-old, who scored four direct free kicks last season, but the Gunners appear to have beaten their fierce rivals to the Spanish international.

Cazorla has 45 caps for his country and can play across the midfield or as a withdrawn forward. Despite playing out wide for Malaga, he has often been used a replacement for midfield metronome Xavi for Spain and it is thought that Arsene Wenger will deploy Cazorla in a central role.

Malaga denied on Tuesday that they were negotiating Cazorla’s sale.

    Lucas Moura
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Manchester United are in talks to sign Brazil international Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo.

The likes of Real Madrid and Inter Milan have been linked with the 19-year-old midfielder, but United have moved into pole position in recent weeks.

Reports have claimed a deal worth around £26million had been agreed, but Ferguson insists this is not the case.

But for the first time he has confirmed he wants to sign the youngster, who has 11 caps for Brazil to his name.

"We haven't reached an agreement," said Ferguson from China, where United are on the latest leg of their pre-season tour.

"We've shown interest. Until such time we reach an agreement we can't say he's ours."

    van Persie Demands Massive Contract

    van Persie
van Persie wants to get paid. £10.1 million per year, to be exact.

According the The Sun, the Arsenal striker wants to be one of the highest paid players in the world, no matter who signs him.

After saying that he won't resign with Arsenal, RVP's list has come down to Juventus, Barcelona and both Manchester United and Manchester City (perWhatCulture!).

However, Arsenal fans shouldn't give up hope just yet, because money appears to be a bigger factor than winning trophies (which is why he said he would not sign with the Gunners).

Arsenal manager Arsene Wegner still wants Van Persie (h/t Yahoo! Sports) and will make life difficult on whoever challenges Arsenal for RVP's services. Any team willing to spend such a high amount on Van Persie isn't just paying him a ridiculous salary, but they must also give Arsenal £30 million, according to The Daily Mail.

While the four teams on his list have money, they may not be willing to spend that much on Van Persie.

After Juve's bid for RVP was rejected, Man U's offer was similarly denied.

Now that the hunt for Van Persie is under way and he is not backing down from his large demand, and Arsenal will need the maximum transfer fee, we may see things starting to change.

We've already seen star players in other sports change their mind about which teams they want to play for (*cough* Dwight Howard), and RVP could be the next to do so.

If the issue comes down to money, I doubt that many clubs other than Arsenal will be willing to meet his demands, not to mention the extra £30 million.

RVP's decision will come down to his priorities and if he picks money then the Gunners will not only be back in the running to have him, but will be leading the chase.

Barcelona to Beat Man City with £20m-Rated Martinez Transfer

    Javi Martinez
Barcelona have entered talks with Atheltic Bilbao over the transfer of Manchester City target Javi Martinez.

The Spanish giants appear to have stolen a march on the Premier League Champions after Barca’s sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta met with Athletic president Josu Urrutia last week to open negotiations, reports talkSPORT.

Martinez can play in defence or midfielder and impressed as Bilbao progressed to the final of the Europa League last season, beating Manchester United along the way.

But the Catalans are struggling to finance a deal after signing Spain left-back Jordi Alba earlier this month.

The La Liga club are ready to offer Bilbao £20.3 million plus rookie ‘keeper Oier Olazabal in a bid to sign Martinez and may have to offload Liverpool targets Ibrahim Afellay and Cristian Tello to make way for the Spaniard.

City are in a better position financially and should offload Bayern Munich and Inter Milan target Nigel de Jong in the next fortnight.

Boss Roberto Mancini is in the market for a holding midfielder and is pursuing both Martinez and Roma’s Daniele de Rossi.

Basque star Martinez has previously stated his desire to remain in Bilbao provided that outspoken coach Marcelo Bielsa is at the club.

    Andre Schurrle Moves to Chelsea?

    Andre Schurrle
Blue move? Germany forward Andre Schurrle admits he is keen on Chelsea switch

“Chelsea would have been very interesting for me. You don’t get a chance like that very often in your life,” says the Leverkusen star

The Bayer Leverkusen forward says it would have been hard to turn the Blues down if the Bundesliga side had accepted an offer from the London club for his services.

Leverkusen turned down Chelsea’s offer for the Germany international as they felt they would not be able to find a suitable replacement.

“I don’t think you would find any player in the Bundesliga who would say that they would not at all be interested,” Schurrle said.

“Chelsea would have been very interesting for me. You don’t get a chance like that very often in your life.”

Chelsea were reported to have raised their initial bid to 25 million euros and Schurrle is disappointed that such figures were being mentioned in public.

“I can imagine the fans will see me with different eyes now,” he said. “If I play two or three bad games, then it could be difficult for me.”

It’s rare for a footballer to be so honest about his intentions and Andre Schurrle is right to suggest that his angling for a move to Chelsea will not go down all that well with Bayer Leverkusen fans. Perhaps the German international feels that such a move on his behalf will push the Blues into action, but if it doesn’t then he may well have wished he had kept his mouth shut.

A bid of £19.5m, as referenced by this source, would appear to be a very fair one and it’s unlikely Chelsea will consider increasing that offer so in many ways Schurrle is in a tricky situation.

Having enjoyed a fairly average first season at Bayer Leverkusen, scoring seven goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances, the 21 year old impressed for his national team both in the warm-up matches prior to Euro 2012 as well in the finals themselves. Indeed his record of seven goals in 16 matches for Die Mannschaft is far superior to his scoring rate at club level.

Schurrle is an adaptable attacker who is used frequently in a wide attacking role but presumably this is an area that Chelsea is well and truly covered in, with the likes of Florent Malouda, Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, Kevin De Bruyne, Daniel Sturridge and Yossi Benayoun all able to ply their trade on the flanks.

    Lampard
Frank Lampard refused to rule out a future move to Major League Soccer following Chelsea’s draw with Paris St Germain on Sunday evening.

Lampard was spotted in Los Angeles earlier this summer, where he was with former England team-mate David Beckham, who is already plying a successful trade in America.

A move to LA alongside Beckham is reported to be on the cards, and Lampard admits that he may look at that – but not until next year.

“I have another year on my contract at Chelsea. We have a big season. We play in the Super Cup and the World Club Championship in December. Then it’s up to Chelsea,” he told reporters after the PSG match in New York.

“If they want to speak with me about my future, then I’ll speak with them. I wouldn’t rule anything out at the moment.”

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is considering a move to the States after being inspired by former teammate David Beckham’s success.

The Blues midfielder would not rule out a move to America and is open to offers. The 34-year-old England international was spotted recently at LA Galaxy watching a game. He sat with Becks, as he was serving a one match ban and the two appeared to be talking business.

AEG president Tim Leiweke told the Daily Mail ‘I’m a fan of Frank’s. I think he’s a great player. When I think of Chelsea, I think of Frank Lampard…’ ’It took us two years to get David to come here the first time.’ ‘We’re working on the next [Designated Player], and we’ll continue to work on the next DP. There are a half-dozen guys we have a good relationship with, and we’ll see how that goes. But first we’ve got to have a spot, and at the moment we don’t have a spot.’

Lampard has one year left on his £130,000 a week contract and is in line for a huge loyalty bonus once completed. His place in the squad is going to get much harder to keep with club boss Roberto Di Matteo looking to rejuvenate the squad, so 2014 could see another Premiership player crossing the Atlantic in search of a new club.

Man United Ready to Bid £32m for ‘Next Cristiano Ronaldo’

    Lucas Moura
Manchester United are set to make a £32 million offer for Lucas Moura after Sao Paulo rejected their latest bid of £27.2m,

The Brazilian club have claimed that United made a “very important offer of €35m [£27.2m]” for their 19-year-old attacking midfielder.

Sources have indicated that the Red Devils’ bid was made on Thursday and that the club are now expected to return with a final offer, which they are confident will be enough to seal the deal.

Thiago Silva has backed Lucas Moura to become the next Cristiano Ronaldo if he completes his move to Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly seen a £30m bid rejected for the 19-year-old, with Sao Paulo seemingly wanting £50m to allow their star asset to leave.

And Brazil captain Silva says that the forward has every chance of emulating Ronaldo if he does move to Old Trafford.
“I see many possibilities for Lucas to play in English football,” said the Paris Saint Germain centre-back.

“Despite being a short guy he is really strong and powerful. It is really difficult to stop him.

“In Manchester particularly, they play with two wingers – it used to be Cristiano Ronaldo and now it’s Nani. He has the same qualities as these players.”

So such a glowing reference from newly purchased PSG centre back Thiago Silva may go some way to explaining why Man United are willing to once again up their offer for Sao Paulo youngster Lucas Moura.

Having failed with a massive £29m bid Sir Alex Ferguson may well have thought nothing of adding a couple more million to one final bid for the 19 year old attacking midfielder, who can also play in a wide role.

Moura has already made over 100 appearances for his hometown club and the Sao Paulo man already has 15 international caps to his name and the chances of securing a deal to sign the teenager are helped by the fact that the youngster is in England taking part in the 2012 Olympic football tournament.

Ferguson has already brought in Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell this summer but appears keen to further improve a squad that lost it’s Premier League crown to local rivals Man City and crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage.

If this £32m bid is accepted by Sao Paulo then it would exceed Man United’s previous record transfer fee spend, which currently stands at £30.75m, the fee paid to Tottenham for Dimitar Berbatov back in the summer of 2008.

But, after playing in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Team GB, he maintained he has not agreed to move to Stamford Bridge.

“I only had a meeting with the doctor, nothing else. I haven’t signed any contract yet,” he said when asked about the Champions League winners’ interest.

“I will wait until the end of the Olympic Games to decide my future.

“All Brazilian players have this dream. I have, like everybody, the dream to play in Europe and the Premier League."

This is a little odd. The statement released by this talented young Brazilian appears to suggest that despite passing a medical with the West London club he may not be absolutely certain he is to join Chelsea. Does Oscar just go around passing medicals for fun? Presumably a medical is usually conducted as a final element of a deal that is pretty much signed and sealed, no?

Perhaps however the 20 year old Internacional man just wants to focus on the Olympic task ahead and trying to keep his mind on representing his national team, if that’s the case then there are perhaps more clearer ways to elicit this response to the press.

Either way it does seem that Chelsea are looking to continue their summer spending as Roman Abramovich looks to flex his financial muscles in the hope that his Stamford Bridge side can make up ground having fallen 25 points off the Premier League title pace last term.

With Eden Hazard and Marko Marin in the bag and others on the way, you have to wonder what the future holds for the club’s old guard, players like Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and Florent Malouda may well be worrying about their futures in the Blues first team in the short, medium and long-term.

    Arsenal Rejected Man Utd Offer

    Robin van Persie
According to The Guardian, Arsenal have rejected a Manchester United bid for their wantaway striker Robin van Persie.
According to the article, the North London club are looking for offers in excess of £20 million for van Persie, who earlier this summer, announced his intention to leave the club.

However, it is believed United are wary of offering more, due to the player turning 29 next month.

The BBC meanwhile, reports today that Arsenal have received multiple offers for the player from Juventus and Manchester City as well, although neither come close to matching their valuation.

With rumours over his future building, Goal.com leads with the story today that van Persie has pulled out of Arsenal's pre-season tour of Asia in an attempt to force his club to sell.

The story claims that Manchester City is the Dutchman's preferred destination.

The website also refutes the fact that United have bid for the player, stating that their focus is on Brazilian starlet Lucas Moura, as well as Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin.

With less than a year to run on his current contract, if Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger decided to keep the star striker at the club, the Gunners would run the risk of losing him for nothing next year.

The Dutchman is coming off the back of a stellar season, in which he led the Premier League with 30 goals, as well as scoring seven more in other competitions.

As a result, van Persie claimed numerous personal accolades, such as the PFA Player of the Year award.

With the start of the season a month away, fans of Arsenal can expect a decision over his future to be made in the coming few weeks.

Where he'll end up though, is another question.

Tottenham target £63m for Hulk and Damiao

Tottenham target £63m Brazil strike force of Hulk and Damiao

Tottenham scouts watched Brazil strikers Leandro Damiao and Hulk in action against Great Britain on Friday night.
Damiao has been on Tottenham’s wanted list for 18 months but they were reluctant to pay the £25million asking price.

The 22-year-old has also had an approach from AC Milan.

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas met up with Hulk at Brazil’s hotel in St Albans earlier this week but claimed he was only there for a chat with the Porto striker, who could be available for £38m.

Currently Tottenham have a paucity of striking options, namely Jermain Defoe, who is currently the North London club’s only recognised senior forward. Emmanuel Adebayor was set to secure a move to White Hart Lane but apparently wage demands are holding up the completion of such a deal which has perhaps led Andre Villas-Boas to step up efforts elsewhere.

Villas-Boas visited Brazilian striker Hulk at the national team’s Olympic training ground, based at Arsenal’s London Colney base, and this has led to speculation that the Tottenham man is keen to bring in his former FC Porto charge.

Tottenham have long been linked with interest in Leandro Damiao and now this source has coupled the two stories together amid talk of a huge offer from the North London club.

Having already brought in Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen, two players who were well on the way to Tottenham prior to Villas-Boas arriving, chairman Daniel Levy may well be ready to spend the money they may well receive from the sale of Luka Modric.

Tottenham have already begun a clear-out with the likes of Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar being sold and Louis Saha, Ryan Nelsen and Ledley King all being released.

    Eden Hazard
Lens sporting director Antoine Sibierski claims a deal to take Thorgan Hazard to Chelsea should be wrapped up in the next 24 hours.

The 19-year-old playmaker is set to follow in the footsteps of his more celebrated elder brother Eden in making a move to Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard linked up with the Blues in a big-money deal earlier this summer, and Roberto Di Matteo is closing on another member of a talented footballing family.

Hazard's current employers have conceded that a transfer is now inevitable and have revealed that negotiations could be completed on Friday.

"It should be official tomorrow," Sibierski told Lens' official website.

"(When I arrived) there was no intention of letting him go and I met him very quickly after my arrival to show my confidence in him.

    Robin van Persie
Signing Robin van Persie is just a dream for Juventus, according to the club's director general Beppe Marotta (via ESPNSoccernet).

Van Persie, 28, announced earlier this month that he would not sign a new deal with Arsenal. Since then, he has been linked heavily with a move away from North London, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus and others thought to be interested.

But Marotta has played down Juventus chances, saying: "It's necessary to always have dreams and ambitions, but at the same time you also have to contend with the reality of everyday facts."

Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly confident of signing RvP for about £20 million (via Daily Mirror).

    Oscar
A deal in the region of £25million has already been agreed by the European champions with his club Internacional.

Coincidentally, Oscar has flown to England with Brazil's Olympic squad which has enabled him to undergo a medical after being given permission to attend by his national coaches.

Chelsea anticipate no problems with his work-permit - meaning the move could very well be completed before the Olympic football tournament begins next week, although an announcement is not expected until his participation is over.

And it is understood Oscar is not the only Olympic player on Chelsea's radar as they are also believed to be in talks with Marseille over Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta.

The highly-rated 22-year-old, who is also participating in the games, moved to France in 2010 from Osasuna - but financial problems at the Stade Velodrome means they could be willing to cash in.

Chelsea are reported to have turned their attentions to Cesar after a move for Inter Milan's Maicon hit complications.

The Brazilian held talks with the Blues but failed to agree terms and is now reportedly back on Real Madrid's radar.

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Paris St Germain have confirmed the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from AC Milan on a three-year contract.

PSG are reported to have paid the Rossoneri around €20million (£15.7m) for the services of the striker.

Ibrahimovic becomes the second Milan player in the space of a week to sign for the Ligue 1 side, following Brazilian defender Thiago Silva to the Parc de Princes.

Although the 30-year-old Sweden international is often seen as a mercurial talent, his record shows he is one of the most reliable goalscorers in Europe, having hit more than 20 goals in each of the last five seasons.

That period includes spells at Inter Milan, Barcelona and AC Milan and his capture indicates the growing power of PSG in the European transfer market.

Chelsea Set to Rule Out for Cavani Move

    Cavani
The Daily Mail today reports that Chelsea are about to open talks with Serie A club Napoli over the potential signing of highly-rated striker Edinson Cavani.

The price quoted by the Mail is £35 million, a fee that is sure to raise eyebrows in southwest London.

But it is Cavani's reported demand of wages in the amount of close to £150,000 a week that might be a potential stumbling block.

This is surprising in itself. The club have already sanctioned a £32 million move for Belgian whizz-kid Eden Hazard, with his wages believed to be close to £200,000 a week (via Goal.com).

Last season Cavani struck 33 goals in all competitions, bringing his total tally to 66 whilst at Napoli.

Since moving from Palermo in 2010, Cavani has emerged as one of the premier attacking talents playing in Europe. The Uruguayan has become known for his blistering shots and fantastic ability in the air.

At 25 years of age, he is also entering the prime of his career.

The move would be an attempt by manager Roberto Di Matteo to replace striker Didier Drogba, who last month completed his transfer to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

With Fernando Torres already on the books, the transfer would raise doubts over who the club's number one option in attack would be, with Di Matteo already this month stating that Torres' place in the team wasn't guaranteed (via Daily Mail).

With the probability that Roman Abramovich's spending is not yet concluded, Chelsea fans can expect their club to be linked with more of world football's biggest talents this Summer.

PSG Show High Intention on Signings Ibrahimovic And Midfielder Marco Verratti

    Ibrahimovic
PSG have confirmed the double signing of AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pescara midfielder Marco Verratti.

Swedish striker Ibrahimovic was unveiled in a press conference and is thought to have cost in the region of £30 million.

The duo will join Ezequiel Lavezzi and Thiago Silva at Parc des Princes and take the Parisiens’ summer spending to nearly £100 million.

Ibrahimovic, 30, has cost a combined total of £150m in transfer fees, following spells with Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Ajax and AC Milan. Without a Champions League medal to his name, this move could be the re-writing of history that PSG need and the platform for the pony-tailed powerhouse to finally win the most prestigious prize in Football.

Along with the signing of Marco Veratti, the Qatar backed French side could may be in for a chance of a league title, something they have not achieved since 1994

Tottenham Tempt To Re-Sign Dimitar Berbatov

    Berbatov to Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in re-signing Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, according to a respected Sky Sports reporter.

Steve Bateman took to twitter to claim the north Londoners had asked United to name their price for the moody Bulgarian.

The 31-year-old is set to leave Old Trafford this summer after falling down the pecking order in Manchester. This week, the Bulgarian suggested it was ‘better for everyone’ if he left the club, with PSG thought to be leading the race for his signature.

Bringing Berbatov back to White Hart Lane would be a controversial move from new head-coach Andre Villas-Boas. The Bulgarian enjoyed two stunning seasons in north London, scoring 27 league goals and dazzling fans with his silky displays and telepathic link-up with Robbie Keane.

But in summer 2008, Berbatov reportedly refused to train amid interest from United and eventually Tottenham were forced to sell him on transfer deadline day for £30.75 million.

The Bulgarian has proved a reasonable success at Old Trafford, scoring 48 league goals in just over 100 appearances and finishing as the top scorer in the 2010/11 season.

But last campaign saw him marginalised behind Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.

It is not yet clear whether Berbatov would welcome a return to N17 but the club’s reported interest is bound to cause division among the Tottenham faithful.
