West Ham to Offer £5m Dimitar Berbatov

Berbatov 9 |
West Ham are ready to offer Dimitar Berbatov an escape route from his Manchester United misery. The Hammers have switched their attention to the Bulgarian striker after their bid to sign Andy Carroll was rebuffed by the Liverpool forward, reports the Daily Mirror.
Berbatov, 31, has revealed his desire to quit the Reds in search of regular first-team football next season. But United have taken out an option to extend his contract by another 12 months in the hope of landing a fee for the £5m-rated striker.
West Ham would prefer a season-long loan and believe former Spurs hitman Berbatov would be tempted by a return to London.
Dimitar Berbatov is pleading to be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer as the Bulgarian wants to avoid wasting another season warming the bench at Man United. His chances of securing an exit from his club depend greatly on just how much Sir Alex Ferguson wants to make from his sale.
Man United spent £30.75m to bring Berbatov to the club four years ago and if he can indeed be snapped up for just £5m then there would surely be a plethora of offers for the 31 year old, however some believe the asking price to be nearer to £10m and that could be a tough price to secure for a player of his age who has just one year left to run on his contract.
In 2010/11 Dimitar Berbatov finished as the Premier League’s joint top scorer but then spent almost all of 2011/12 on the bench, with more of the same expected this coming campaign.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has been linked with a myriad of potential ‘marquee’ signings and having apparently had his advances for Liverpool forward Andy Carroll rebuffed a move for Berbatov to boost the Hammers strike-force would be a wise one.

Arsenal Plot £9m Move For Paulinho

Paulinho |
Arsenal are plotting a move for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho, reports the 23-year-old is currently plying his trade in his homeland for Corinthians but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger
believes he has what it takes to make a mark on the Premier League next season.
Wenger is preparing a £9 million bid for the star, as he attempts to prove his ambition to unsettled star striker Robin van Persie.
Paulinho joined the Brasileirao title-challengers from Bragantino in 2010 and, after a series of impressive performances, made his Brazil debut in the first leg of the ‘Superclassico de las Americas’ against Argentina in August last year.
The attacking midfielder scored 8 times in 35 appearances for Corinthians last term but injury has ruled him out of future appearances for the nation team.
Wenger is desperate to prove his ambition ahead of the new season after van Persie admitted earlier this month that he would not be renewing his contract at the Emirates.
Newcastle United Close to Meeting £17m Asking Price for Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll: Newcastle poised to improve loan offer for striker
Newcastle are expected to return with an improved offer to take Liverpool’s Andy Carroll on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal in future. Liverpool dismissed Newcastle’s first offer on Sunday night, but the Anfield club will consider a better deal. Newcastle initially only offered to pay part of Carroll’s £80,000-a-week wages.
Newcastle also wanted to pay £13m if the 23-year-old then signed a permanant deal – the Reds are understood to want at least £17m.
If the difference between the two sides valuations of the players is just £4m then it seems entirely possible that an offer of £15m could well get the deal done and dusted.
Neither side will want any period of uncertainty to hang in the balance for too long and if Alan Pardew does indeed want to bring Andy Carroll back to St James’ Park and if Brendan Rodgers doesn’t see the 23 year old England international as part of his plans then clearly a permanent move back to the North-East is best for all concerned, that is of course if the player himself wants such a move to come to fruition.
Kenny Dalglish spent a great deal of time dealing with constant criticism over the expensive signing of Andy Carroll and regardless of cost the Gateshead born marksman has failed to prove himself over the 18 months he has spent at the Merseyside club.
Clearly the fee placed on his head was not of Carroll’s choosing and the weight of expectation has proved something of a burden for the Liverpool forward, perhaps a fresh start will help to get his career back on track.

Man United to Offer Player Swap for Lukas Modric +£25m

Lukas Modric |
Now the Old Trafford boss is greedy to place a bid and hopes it will tempt Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy into selling one of their prized assets to Man United.
Ferguson will reportedly offer up to £25m plus the inclusion of either of two players he feels will be of interest to newly installed Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas. The players in question are Brazilian midfielder Anderson and Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Berbatov |
Another reason for the likely sale of Modric is perhaps Villas-Boas’s intention to bring in new talent as he looks to put his stamp on the Tottenham squad. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen have been signed from Hoffenheim and Ajax respectively and the Portuguese boss has a number of other prospective targets and therefore Levy may be looking to sell Modric to increase transfer funds for his new boss.
31 year old Man United striker Berbatov has recently made his intention to leave Old Trafford very public and has pleaded to Ferguson to re-think any potentially inflated asking price for his services, after all the former Tottenham striker has only a year left to run on his current deal and any interested parties may opt to wait a year and pick him up on a free but the fourth choice striker wants to leave as soon as possible.
Things appear to turn for the worst for Dimitar Berbatov when he was left out of the Man United squad for the 2011 Champions League final against Barcelona, despite being the Premier League’s joint top scorer.
Last term Ferguson only handed the intelligent forward five Premier League starts and Berbatov is not looking forward to another year on the bench.
Berbatov is actually in the best goal-scoring form of his career having netted 27 goals in his past 44 Premier League fixtures. Though clearly he left Tottenham to join Man United four years ago perhaps Villas-Boas would be open to the inclusion of the in-form striker as part of any deal that saw Modric leave this summer.
Perhaps Villas-Boas would be more interested in any player swap deal that included midfielder Anderson. The former FC Porto man has been strongly linked with a Man United exit this summer, having seemingly disappointed Sir Alex Ferguson over the past season and perhaps the 24 year old could add more strength in depth to the Tottenham midfield.
