Chelsea beats AVB to sign Oscar for £25million

    Oscar, Brazilian Footballer
Chelsea has pulled off another transfer by signing £25million Brazilian wonderkid, Oscar.

Despite cashing out £42m for Marko Marin and Eden Hazard, Abramovich’s latest revolution shows no signs of abating after he moved in for the Internacional playmaker who is regarded as one of the most exciting talents to emerge from Brazil in years.

Tottenham’s new boss, AVB thought he was in a strong position to land 20-year-old Oscar after making an offer last week.

It was reported the bid was £11m, but sources in South America say it was much higher than that and a club-record offer of nearer £18m.

Chelsea, however, has moved quickly to swamp Tottenham’s offer and beat their former charge to his signature.

So the done deal and if so this will come as a blow to former Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas, who had been targeting the young Brazilian since his move to White Hart Lane.

Roman Abramovich has already flexed his financial muscles this summer, bringing in Eden Hazard and Marko Marin in deals worth a combined value of around £38m.

The 20 year old attacking midfielder had a breakthrough season last term at Internacional, scoring 13 and assisting 11 from an advanced central role behind the club’s strike-force. The youngster’s form helped him to break into the senior national team set-up.

Oscar dos Santos first sprung to fame when he scored a hat-trick to help his side to win the FIFA Under 20 World Cup last year.

It would appear that the West London side are looking to plan for the future whilst also reversing the club’s ageing squad. To this end Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa were not offered a new contract and there has been talk of possible exits for both Florent Malouda and Frank Lampard to Brazil and the United States respectively.
