Arsenal have agreed terms with Malaga playmaker Santi Cazorla, reports the Daily Mail.

The versatile Spaniard looks set to arrive in north London in the next few weeks but the Gunners are still to agree a fee with the La Liga outfit.

Cazorla is desperate to leave Malaga this summer, after a bitter row with the club over unpaid wages.

The Euro 2012 winner only joined the Qatari-owned club last summer in an £18 million deal from Villareal – who were subsequently relegated – and is one of several senior players eyeing an exit from La Rosaleda.

Malaga reportedly still owe Villareal £3 million of Cazorla’s initial transfer fee and have a lengthy unpaid tax bill, despite being backed by a mega-bucks middle-eastern consortium.

Tottenham were also interested in the 27-year-old, who scored four direct free kicks last season, but the Gunners appear to have beaten their fierce rivals to the Spanish international.

Cazorla has 45 caps for his country and can play across the midfield or as a withdrawn forward. Despite playing out wide for Malaga, he has often been used a replacement for midfield metronome Xavi for Spain and it is thought that Arsene Wenger will deploy Cazorla in a central role.

Malaga denied on Tuesday that they were negotiating Cazorla’s sale.
