West Ham are ready to offer Dimitar Berbatov an escape route from his Manchester United misery. The Hammers have switched their attention to the Bulgarian striker after their bid to sign Andy Carroll was rebuffed by the Liverpool forward, reports the Daily Mirror.
Berbatov, 31, has revealed his desire to quit the Reds in search of regular first-team football next season. But United have taken out an option to extend his contract by another 12 months in the hope of landing a fee for the £5m-rated striker.
West Ham would prefer a season-long loan and believe former Spurs hitman Berbatov would be tempted by a return to London.
