    Lukas Modric
United boss is ready to enter the bid race for Lukas Modric. Ferguson has been strongly linked with the Tottenham Midfielder but had appeared to have taken a back seat in the race for the 26 year old as Chelsea and Real Madrid looked like being the front runners to sign the White Hart Lane star.

Now the Old Trafford boss is greedy to place a bid and hopes it will tempt Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy into selling one of their prized assets to Man United.

Ferguson will reportedly offer up to £25m plus the inclusion of either of two players he feels will be of interest to newly installed Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas. The players in question are Brazilian midfielder Anderson and Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov.

    Berbatov
Villas-Boas has openly admitted that Tottenham are ready to cash-in on Luka Modric, this is in marked contrast to last summer when Levy refused Chelsea’s advances for the schemer. The club’s change of heart may have a lot to do with the fact that another of the North London club’s prized assets, Gareth Bale, has committed to Spurs and put pen to paper on a new four year deal.

Another reason for the likely sale of Modric is perhaps Villas-Boas’s intention to bring in new talent as he looks to put his stamp on the Tottenham squad. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen have been signed from Hoffenheim and Ajax respectively and the Portuguese boss has a number of other prospective targets and therefore Levy may be looking to sell Modric to increase transfer funds for his new boss.

31 year old Man United striker Berbatov has recently made his intention to leave Old Trafford very public and has pleaded to Ferguson to re-think any potentially inflated asking price for his services, after all the former Tottenham striker has only a year left to run on his current deal and any interested parties may opt to wait a year and pick him up on a free but the fourth choice striker wants to leave as soon as possible.

Things appear to turn for the worst for Dimitar Berbatov when he was left out of the Man United squad for the 2011 Champions League final against Barcelona, despite being the Premier League’s joint top scorer.

Last term Ferguson only handed the intelligent forward five Premier League starts and Berbatov is not looking forward to another year on the bench.

Berbatov is actually in the best goal-scoring form of his career having netted 27 goals in his past 44 Premier League fixtures. Though clearly he left Tottenham to join Man United four years ago perhaps Villas-Boas would be open to the inclusion of the in-form striker as part of any deal that saw Modric leave this summer.

Perhaps Villas-Boas would be more interested in any player swap deal that included midfielder Anderson. The former FC Porto man has been strongly linked with a Man United exit this summer, having seemingly disappointed Sir Alex Ferguson over the past season and perhaps the 24 year old could add more strength in depth to the Tottenham midfield.

    Anderson
Ferguson is keen to bring in a creative midfielder this summer having targeted a number of possible additions he now wishes to return to White Hart Lane in an attempt to land Luka Modric and is willing to make an attractive offer to beat Real Madrid and Chelsea to the punch.
